Sea Oats

Surfrider Foundation and the Barrier Island Center teamed up and planted 2,000 sea oats on the south side of Sebastian Inlet State Park.  Looking at the pictures the volunteers had a grand time planting the sea oats!  Sea oats are the primary dune’s  frontline defense against erosion.  The roots of sea oat plants are legendary for holding the upper reaches of the beach together.  Also, shorebirds like to nest amidst the sea oats.
